Robin,

Thoughtful commentary that's easy to understand. Lots of untapped potential for content owners who don't see their content as an asset to leverage, including ours. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent post.

Too many online marketers don't think like this, and it costs them dear. Hopefully they'll take your advice!

Robin, Some smart advice here, thanks. Commitment is key, being ready to turn "into a media company" takes a new approach. Rethinking marketing, the content is big. Thinking Audience, talking with (not to) the right people, is always critical. Creating the content that doesn't sell, but connects to the audience: something they want to read or watch, want to share with others. Bookmarking this!

Robin:

Great points and some juicy links in the beginning of your post. The 8 ways to think and act like a media company and how to use content marketing. I really like #6, "Make it easy for your content to be discovered and shared." I see so many companies put their content behind a registration page or make it difficult to share. Unfortunately, we all loose in that regard.

#7 is great too and so often overlooked: expand your calls to action. That's one I often have to work at for sure.
